Hothouse Flowers
Hothouse Flowers are a seminal Irish band, playing a music mix that ranges from rock to traditional Irish music to gospel. The Flowers broke on the scene in the 1980’s with seminal hits like Don’t Go, I’m Sorry and I Can See Clearly Now. But the roots of the band have also been immersed in traditional culture and the Irish language in particular. This evening they play Sligo for the first time, as part of the Connacht Fleadh, bringing their uplifting music to the masses at the Connacht Fleadh Gig Rig on Stephen’s Street overlooking the Garavogue River.
Support will be provided by Sligo’s own The Unwanted, comprising the wonderful Cathy Jordan, Séamie O’Dowd and Rick Epping. These three amazing musicians are steeped in traditional music, but by coming together as The Unwanted have morphed into something altogether different, ‘music from the Atlantic fringe’, as they call it themselves.
We urge patrons to arrive early as we may have to limit capacity.
